The GDUT International Innovation & Entrepreneurship Camp is the inaugural international science and innovation program organized by Guangdong University of Technology, bringing together 34 students from 5 countries—China, Italy, UK, Russia, and South Korea—across 7 days and 2 cities (Guangzhou and Foshan). Endorsed by the university’s Party Committee Vice Chancellor and supported by the Guangdong Association of International Student Management.
Over 7 days in January 2025, participants visited industry-leading companies including Baidu, VIPshop, GAC Aion, and Midea Group—experiencing China’s frontline achievements in AI, digitalization, and intelligent manufacturing firsthand. Our team also immersed in Chinese cultural heritage through visits to Yongqing Fang, the Nanyue Second Mausoleum Museum, and traditional arts workshops in calligraphy, tea ceremony, and guqin. As team leader, I coordinated daily activity logistics, introduced Chinese culture to international participants from Italy (Politecnico di Milano), South Korea (Dankook University), UK, and Russia, and facilitated cross-cultural communication throughout the program. I unified the team’s project direction and led our group to complete a concept wheelchair-accessible vehicle model—a social innovation design addressing mobility challenges for people with disabilities.
The impact: successfully led a multicultural team to deliver a complete social innovation prototype, served as cultural bridge between Chinese and international participants across 5 countries, and contributed to GDUT’s inaugural international program—recognized by university leadership as a milestone in international science and innovation education. This project encompasses cross-cultural team leadership, innovation project coordination, cultural facilitation, and social innovation design.
